Our Origins
Bungalow Rose® was founded by a husband and wife team who shared a love for travel and collecting unique home decor. As avid travelers and decorators, they were drawn to the rich cultures, bold colors, and artisanal craftsmanship they discovered across the globe.
However, they found it difficult to recreate the exotic bohemian style they loved once they returned home. Mainstream home stores tended to offer safe, muted palettes and mass-produced furniture. The couple dreamed of a brand that could bring the magic of their journeys into everyday living spaces.
And so, Bungalow Rose® was born. Our name pays homage to the artsy, free-spirited style of the 1920s bungalows in Southern California. It also speaks to our founders’ love of nature and blooming, abundant gardens.
In 2003 we launched our first collection of handcrafted furniture, rugs and textiles that captured the craft, color and culture of artisans worldwide. We sought out makers who hand-carved, hand-loomed and hand-dyed their creations using centuries-old techniques. Our pieces blended these traditional methods with modern bohemian influences.
This was the beginning of the Bungalow Rose® approach to globally-inspired home decor. We’ve spent nearly two decades cultivating relationships with gifted makers to bring our customers authentic furniture and accents infused with art, soul and passion.
